The Finance Specialist is dedicated to the achievement of building and maintaining solid partnership within the business while guiding them manage Market Unit financials.
The incumbent is a key contributor in month end, forecasting, reporting, and annual business planning. This position will be responsible for interpreting, analyzing and actioning revenue and operating expense variances in partnership with their respective Market Unit.
The Finance Specialist will analyze various results for productivity savings initiatives and report out variance analysis to assist in the creation of remaining estimates.
You will partner with supply chain forecasting to provide input and be involved in the annual budget creation inclusive of full operating expenditure planning. On a monthly basis you will present financial results against the monthly business plan with business partners.
Assist in the control and maintenance of operating expenditures
Perform month-end and year-end closing functions that pertain to profit and loss statement management
Perform and report out impacts of revenue and cost variances versus plan for sales, distribution and warehousing explaining why the variances occurred
Working with project team members to understand initiatives and provide logic and templates for tracking productivity initiatives savings for market unit
Verify productivity initiative savings reported by project owners
Participate in month end routines inclusive of detailed Profit and Loss analysis, created accruals, reclasses and reconciliations
Volume/price/mix analysis on market unit revenue
Prepare detailed annual budget with business partners and other cross functional teams, scaling and presentation process (creation and delivery)
Focus on continual process improvement and ensure compliance and control, create if/as needed, standard procedures and policies to drive efficiencies and savings
Develop and maintain solid partnerships with stakeholders including finance counterparts, general managers, operations managers and capability leads
Participate and manage ad-hoc projects and other duties as required
Resolve and clearly communicate any issues with relevant stakeholders
What you will need to succeed in this role:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting,
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in accounting or finance
Excellent analytical approach with an understanding of revenue and spend management
Understanding of sales, warehouse and distribution processes
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with others
Strong communication and business writing skills
Flexibility to adjust workload and hours when necessary; particularly during budgeting
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Access and Outlook functionality
Critical Thinking - Analyze information to provide clear and concise recommendations to drive improvement and profitability
Exercising Judgment – Generate alternatives and assist in selecting the best option
MBA or CPA (asset)
Potential to travel up to 10% of time in Ontario.
