Under the direction of the VP Leadership Giving (GTA) this position is responsible for supporting the Leadership Giving team by researching and writing compelling materials to engage prospective donors, and to further engage, show impact and appreciation to our current donors. As well as assistance with creating a stewardship calendar of engagement opportunities across the province.

  • Develops, writes and persuasively communicates the Society’s mission & programs to prospective donors, foundations and current donors.
  • Drafts coherent, credible and motivating documents to advance CCS’s priorities with consultation across the province and other stakeholders.
  • Leads writing process from inception to final delivery for proposals, impact reports, ask letters, stewardship letters, Foundation grant proposals.
  • Interprets, synthesizes and communicates complex information.
  • Ensures consistency and accuracy of information in all deliverables.
  • Liaises across CCS ON to gather relevant information for proposals.
  • Liaises with foundations to qualify interest for ON priorities through phone calls and in writing.
  • Functions within a team environment, working under broad guidelines.
  • Makes decisions requiring judgment in analyzing, organizing and presenting complex information.
  • Strategic digital media copy including email, video, social media.
  • Participating in briefs, brainstorm meetings, and client presentations.
  • Work closely with Vice President and delegates to create inspiring concepts and communications.
  • Emotional and strategic letter writing (long copy).
Stewardship Duties:
  • Design, document, and implement a systematic and integrated donor relations program that encompasses donor recognition, engagement and stewardship.
  • Proactively supports the stewardship responsibilities of the development staff by assisting them in establishing and coordinating individualized stewardship plans for donors.
  • Develop and manage key recognition and stewardship templates (gift agreements, stewardship reports and thank you letters).
  • Working with Leadership Giving team to identify meaningful opportunities around the donor cycle to engage, thank and retain current and future donors.
  • Performs other related duties, as required
  • Minimum of 5 or more years related experience in writing.
  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, English or equivalent.
  • Superior time management skills- Ability to meet multiple overlapping deadlines.
  • Experience with proposal writing and case development.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • A strong donor orientation and work ethic.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to conceptualize and think through multi-faceted problems combined with the ability to deliver results;
  • Experience in fundraising principles
  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced computer literacy in MS Office.
