We’re currently hiring a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Technician to join our growing team in Ottawa!

What can you expect to do as a Field Technician within our SUE Group?
- Complete investigations in the field, accurately mapping the alignment of various underground utilities (water, gas, hydro, telecom, etc.). You will have the best equipment available in the industry including but not limited to; cable locate equipment, ground penetrating radar, GPS survey, Sondes, Lidar, Vacuum Excavation and other measuring devices.
- Gather other important utility related information, which includes utility related surface features, chamber investigations/measurements, aerial inventories and condition assessment.
- Ensure optimum usage and maintenance of equipment and vehicles
- Trouble-shoot/co-ordinate and effectively communicate with engineers, project managers and directors to ensure optimal client satisfaction
- Complete detailed and accurate daily reports, forms and field sketches, both electronically and by hand
- Perform duties such as maintenance of traffic, making basic field measurements and performing other geophysical prospecting
What you bring to the position:
- Ability to work 10 hour shifts, 5 days a week (overtime paid after 44 hours)
- Valid “G” driver’s license with clean driving record
- Availability to work days/nights as needed
- Willingness and availability to travel when required
- Proficiency in French is considered an asset
- Team player with a positive attitude and able to work well under pressure
- Willing to work in various weather conditions (remember – we work year-round!)
- Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot
- Able to walk frequently on uneven surfaces and lift approximately 50 pounds
BONUS!! If you have previous experience with:
- Understanding of conductive and non-conductive utility designating through the application of related equipment
- Utility related construction experience
- Damage Prevention Technician Certification
- Confined Space Entry Training
- OTM Book 7 training
- Knowledge of ASCE 38
