Backtrack Railway Services Ltd has been serving the rail industry for over 25 years.
Backtrack offers sales, service, and parts for a wide range of hand and power tools used in the rail industry. With five locations across Canada, we are a leader in the power tool and industrial supply sector.
We are seeking a skilled and dependable professional to join our team at our Kamloops location.
Position: Small Equipment Mechanic | Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week
Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs and maintenance to a variety of small power tools
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical and mechanical problems
- Order appropriate parts and supplies to expedite the repair process
- Complete and create work orders in a computer-based system
- Assist with counter sales and customer support in a retail environment
- Assist in housekeeping duties in the office and shop when required
- Assist with shipping and receiving materials when required
- Occasional work at customer sites may be required
- Training will be provided for the successful candidate as needed
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum two years’ experience as a small engine mechanic, or equivalent mechanical-related position
- Experience with gasoline 2-cycle, 4-cycle, and diesel engines
- Experience with Stihl and Husqvarna equipment
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical circuits
- Class 5 driver’s license, reliable transportation
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Experience with computer-based work order systems
- Must be a team player, have a positive attitude, willing to learn
- Physically able to lift more than 50 lbs
- Railway maintenance experience would be an asset
