Reporting to the Corporate Manager of Financial Services, This position facilitates the integration of financial and clinical information assisting in the effective billing and collection of Patient and Non-Patient Accounts, performance measurement, and analysis of activities and revenues. As an integral member of the Accounts Receivable team; the Financial Analyst is responsible for all aspects of hospital and professional billing and assisting management in standardizing and streamlining our financial systems and operational processes. The financial analyst will also provide guidance to Financial services Clerk , and promote collaboration and teamwork.
The Financial Analyst will
Act as a primary lead for billing and claim management processes with focus on industry regulations, best practice and data governance with appropriate workflow alignment.
Continuous data validation to ensure integrity of data dictionaries.
Review and analyze accounts to ensure information is complete and accurate for billing to insurance companies, clients and individuals
Regular and timely billing and monthly review and follow up of outstanding accounts
Collaborate with IT partners to resolve operational and data quality issues.
Partner with other stakeholders such as Admitting and Registration and Diagnostic imaging to obtain an in-depth understanding of the business requirements as it relates to interdependencies with source/feeder modules and current data issues; assess and make recommendations.
Assist in preparing communication and learning packages.
Support the team in other duties as assigned
Completion of a university degree program (B. Commerce, Information Systems or equivalent) and enrollment in a professional designation program (CMA/CGA/CA) with 3 to 5 years of related progressive experience
Prior working knowledge in a regulated healthcare environment with solid understanding of the revenue cycle, applicable billing rules and regulations of medical claims from various payers such as OHIP, Interprovincial, WSIB, IFHP etc. is preferred.
In-depth working knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Ontario Hospital Reporting System (OHRS) requirements and MIS Guidelines
Proficiency in computer applications including Meditech, EPIC, Excel, Access, Word skills; experience with SQL query and Meditech an asset
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to be flexible with changing needs and timelines and to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
