Salary: $26.38 - $28.63 per hour
Days off: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and statutory holidays

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Support Worker with education in Child & Youth Care or Social Services to join the Healthiest Babies Possible program at Robert & Lily Lee Family Community Health Centre. Apply today to join our team!
As a Support Worker with the Healthiest Babies Possible program you will:
Provide supportive counselling, education and guidance for teenaged pregnant women to have healthy pregnancies.
Deliver various prenatal/postpartum education groups for youth.
Use a holistic approach to advise on nutrition, drug and alcohol use, housing, mental health, financial assistance and other relevant issues.
Assist the care team with developing and revising care plans, establishing and maintaining relationships based on respect with participants, and provide nutrition and lifestyle education, guidance and supportive counselling on either a one to one basis or in a group setting.
Provide referrals for community/social supports and plan, arrange and co-facilitate drop-in groups.
Liaise with medical community, hospital and community agencies.
Maintain client records.
Be responsible for coordinating the volunteers working in the program.
Education & Experience
Completion of a recognized program in child & youth care, social services or other related program.
Two (2) years’ recent related experience in community outreach, group facilitation and supportive counselling with pregnant youth and parenting women/families or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel may require the use of a personal vehicle.
Knowledge & Abilities
Broad knowledge of prenatal nutrition, food security, prenatal breastfeeding, health and education.
Knowledge of smoking cessation and addictions.
Knowledge of infant nutrition, growth and development.
Skilled in group facilitation and supportive counselling targeted to pregnant youth and teenage parents.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients, coach group participants.
Ability to network within the designated community environment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deliver age sensitive services.
Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
Ability to organize and prioritize.
Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Basic computer literacy to operate computerized information system and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
