Our Resources subsector—part of WSP’s Energy, Resources and Industry (ERI) sector—supports clients from coast to coast, delivering end‑to‑end services across industrial and mining projects. From economic studies and feasibility assessments to EPCM, commissioning, and site closure, our teams collaborate to meet the highest industry standards and continuously innovate beyond them.
As an Intermediate or Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer , you’ll join our growing team based in Etobicoke , contributing to multidisciplinary projects across mining, energy, and agribusiness. Reporting to the Electrical Department Manager, you’ll apply your I&C engineering expertise from conceptual design through to project completion, while building strong client relationships and supporting the development of junior team members.
Your Impact
- Deliver high‑quality instrumentation and controls engineering across the full project lifecycle, from studies and conceptual design to commissioning and close‑out.
- Execute I&C scopes independently, providing sound technical judgment and accountability within your discipline.
- Coordinate effectively with electrical, mechanical, process, and other disciplines to enable successful project delivery.
- Develop and review I&C deliverables including P&IDs, control system architectures, loop diagrams, communications, and bills of materials in compliance with codes and standards.
- Support site activities such as troubleshooting, commissioning, and start‑up while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
- Guide and review the work of engineers‑in‑training, technicians, and designers, fostering technical quality and team growth.
- Contribute to technical and commercial proposals and, where required, act as Project Engineer for EIC‑specific projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Instrumentation & Control from an accredited institution.
- Approximately 5–6 years of experience working with industrial automation systems in a consulting engineering or system integrator environment.
- Practical experience designing instrumentation and control systems, including control system selection, network architecture, and instrumentation design.
- Working knowledge of CSA, ISA, ANSI, IEEE standards , the National Building Code, and other applicable regulations.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 and IoT concepts and their application in industrial environments.
- Experience with CADD tools such as AutoCAD and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and build trusted client relationships.
- Member of, or eligible for membership with, APEGS (or equivalent Canadian engineering association), with demonstrated commitment to safety and field execution.

Grade 8 – Tier 3 (Professional)
Compensation:
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 – $179,100
MB & ON: $123,300 – $169,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 – $162,200
