19-009 A temporary 1.0 FTE Kindergarten teaching position in the District’s Kindergarten Kwak’wala Immersion-Experience Program available at Ripple Rock Elementary School, effective September 03, 2019 to June 26, 2020.

The successful candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

Successful experience teaching Kindergarten including demonstrable evidence of working with Indigenous students, families and their communities
Understanding of the developmental level of 4, 5, and 6-year-old children;
Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and application of the (draft) Early Learning Framework
A knowledge of local Indigenous history and culture and demonstrated experience embedding Indigenous content, World Views, and First Peoples Principles into daily practice;
Demonstrated practical ability to interact in an Indigenous language; preferably Kwak’wala
Demonstrated understanding and application of play-based & inquiry-based learning
Ability to demonstrate sound “assessment for learning” practices; and,
Ability to demonstrate how current practices align with SD72 Learning Beliefs.
