As a Casual Food Service Worker, you have the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient and resident focused health care as a dedicated member of the Nutrition Food Service (NFS) team. This position performs a variety of tasks to ensure a quality patient, resident and customer experience. Under the general supervision of a Food Services Supervisor, you will use strong customer service, teamwork and organizational skills to: prepare, handle, portion and package food and beverages; assemble trays in the kitchen; provide patient meal delivery and pick up; safely operate and clean industrial food service equipment. The successful candidate will be able to: work in a fast-paced environment with speed and accuracy, communicate effectively in English with patients, co-workers, and other hospital departments, working as an effective, professional team member.
Description:
As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures. Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs. This position requires you to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Customer service experience. Food service experience. Experience in a hospital or long term care environment. Experience with inventory management; receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates and minimizing waste while utilizing “First In, First Out” procedures. Experience with Industrial Food Service Equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those with customer service training and a Food Safety Certification.
