Baker Tilly RSG LLP is currently looking for new or upcoming college or university graduates for full-time, permanent positions as Accountant to join our team in our Edmonton, Bonnyville and Cold Lake.
The Accountant is responsible for providing entry to intermediate level accounting, tax advisory and consulting services while also promoting the brand and services of Baker Tilly. The incumbent will be front line for responding to basic inquiries, resolving entry to intermediate level issues, and providing entry to intermediate level support and guidance to clients on various tax, and year end compliance matters, as well as preparing entry to intermediate level compilation, review and audit engagements and corporation and personal income tax returns.
- Plan and execute entry to intermediate-level compilation, review and audit engagements including preparation of financial statements and applicable tax filings such as T2, T4, T5, T5013, T5018, GST & WCB returns
- Prepare entry to intermediate-level personal income tax returns and related schedules
- Respond to inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly and professionally, while adhering to firm policies and procedures
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to continuously improve technical skills
- Support various projects and administrative tasks as required
- Engage in collaborative efforts with other team members with the goal of maintaining or improving efficient internal processes
- Completion of accounting or finance degree required
- Strong understanding of accounting and tax fundamentals
- Previous experience in public accounting an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively to resolve client issues
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to perform more than one task concurrently
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft 365, CaseWare, TaxPrep, QBO, Xero and other relevant software
