This position is based out of the Acheson, AB Corporate office and offers a hybrid work environment. Travel to various SMS locations will be required on an occasional basis.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Parts Solutions, the Warehousing Solutions Lead acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Warehouse Best Practices, setting benchmarks for all relevant warehouses across Canada. In addition, this role will conduct audits and work with operations on improvement opportunities to maintain a minimum level of performance across Canada. This position will support improvement in inventory accuracy, warehouse staff efficiency, and facility layout.
Maintains, creates, updates policy, SOPs & Work Instructions for Warehouse related activity at SMS across Canada.
Works with Branches & IT for day-to-day issues that arise regarding the warehouse management software.
Organizes the annual inventory counts across SMS, utilizing resources from the Inventory team within the Corporate Parts & Service Group.
Develops our cycle counting procedures and creates policy options in lieu of annual counts.
Develops minimum KPIs for all Branches and identifies areas for further business development.
Conducts warehouse audits and follows up with Branches on any improvement initiatives.
Minimum 5 years warehouse operation experience at senior level.
Experience in creating best practices, policy, SOP & Works instruction.
Proficient in using a Warehouse Management System. Experience implementing a new system would be considered an asset.
Experience leading cycle count processes.
Experience using and developing KPIs for warehouse operations.
Demonstrated skill of managing through influence as this role will have to work collaboratively with Operations across Canada.
Project Management experience or certificate is an asset.
