About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Supervisor to oversee our core financial functions, including G/L Maintenance, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, and Credit. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead a dedicated team of two to ensure accurate postings to the General Ledger and seamless financial operations.
This role is ideal for someone with 5+ years of experience who wants to lead a small team and own the general ledger, but who is also perfectly content rolling up their sleeves to handle data entry, spreadsheets, and basic office administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Oversight: Supervise and guide the accounting team; provide operational direction, monitor credit/collection statuses, and provide feedback for annual performance reviews.
- Daily Financial Controls: Review and approve A/P vouchers, cheque/EFT runs, wire transfers, and daily bank reports. Monitor account balances and correct G/L entry errors.
- Month-End & Compliance: Execute month-end closing procedures, balance sales/AR, and prepare balanced General Ledgers. Complete monthly bank reconciliations and file government remittances (GST/HST, WSIB, Withholding Tax, and corporate tax instalments).
- Financial Reporting & Collaboration: Co-prepare monthly financial statements with the CFO. Assist with annual budgets, year-end review engagements, and the company's Annual Report.
- Operational Continuity: Act as a critical backup for the A/P and A/R roles during absences. Handle ad-hoc administrative facilities coordination (broker insurance certificates, vendor rebate agreements, office asset upkeep).
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Graduate of a minimum 3-year College Business and Accounting program.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of related corporate accounting experience, with demonstrated capability in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data modeling, reconciliations) and MS Word. Strong familiarity with specialized accounting databases and computer systems.
- Work Management: Exceptional ability to independently assess heavy workloads, prioritize tight deadlines, and work effectively under pressure during seasonal peak periods (e.g., year-end, audits).
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to cooperate closely with Administration, Marketing, Sales Reps, and corporate banking partners.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- Opportunities to work directly with executive leadership (CFO).
- A supportive, professional, and collaborative office environment.
