Group Electrical Contractors is a growing underground utility and construction company committed to maintaining a safe, reliable, and efficient fleet. We are seeking a motivated Truck & Trailer Mechanic Apprentice (Level 2 or 3) to join our team and assist with the maintenance and repair of our in-house fleet.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will work under the direction of experienced Journeyperson Mechanics to perform inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an apprentice looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Conduct inspections and identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
- Assist with diagnostics and repairs on engines, brakes, suspension, steering, and driveline systems.
- Maintain accurate service records and work orders.
- Ensure equipment is safe and ready for daily operations.
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Assist with field service calls when required.
Qualifications
- Registered Truck & Transport Mechanic Apprentice (Level 2 or 3).
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (Class 3 or willingness to obtain is an asset).
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines, truck and trailer systems, and shop practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
- Supply and utilize your own set of basic tools to complete daily tasks.

Wage Range
$24.00 – $30.00 per hour, depending on experience, apprenticeship level, and qualifications.
