Overview:
As a Field Welder, you will be responsible for providing on-site repairs and maintenance on waste compactors and balers. You will work from a company repair truck and be dispatched to customer sites to perform welding repairs to recycling containers, recycling equipment, grates, railings, and other related equipment. In this role, you will be customer-facing and responsible for providing high-level customer service and care. You will communicate directly with client users, operators, and employees to deliver a successful service visit.
While most of your work will be performed independently after a suitable training period, you will be collaborating with other technicians and support staff to deliver the best possible solution for our clients.
Location Field Welder will have the option to take home the Metro Compactor company vehicle and be dispatched from their home location
Salary Range: $26/hr - $32/hr
Bonus: This position is eligible to receive an incentive award targeted at 5% of the base salary.
Work Hours: 8am – 4:30pm | Overtime and On-Call required
Responsibilities
- Welding repairs to Recycling containers /Recycling equipment/grates/railings (parts are manufactured in shop, welder describes the parts to the shop then picks them up and installs on site, this welder will not need to fabricate all parts but must be able to explain them through measurements)
- Evaluate repairs at site, use of cutting torches and welder to perform various repairs
- Use various hand and power hand tools
Prepare and submit Service orders with clear communication, verbal and written
Qualifications
- Experienced in Arc/Stick welding
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality workmanship
- Willingness to work overtime when needed
- Ability to travel to multiple locations throughout the day, work independently and unsupervised in a company vehicle
- Excellent verbal communication skills, professional appearance, positive attitude, and a safety-first mindset
Comfortable working in all weather conditions year-round, wearing protective clothing while working in or near garbage, recycling, or compost material
