About the Role
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Product Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team on a 12-month contract covering a maternity leave. Reporting to the CEO, this role is responsible for owning product messaging and positioning, leading go-to-market strategy for new product releases, and driving our post-launch expansion strategy.
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role. You'll spend your first few months working closely with the current Marketing Manager to ramp up on our products, market, and team before stepping into full leadership of the Marketing function, including three direct reports.
We're looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, is comfortable wearing multiple hats, and has a bias toward action. We need someone who can build the playbook, not just follow one. This is a fully remote, based anywhere in Canada position but you must be available to work within our core business hours (9:00am-5:00pm EST).
What You'll Do:
Product Messaging & Positioning
- Own product messaging and positioning for our core product lines, ensuring value propositions are clear, differentiated, and resonate with end users.
- Translate technical product features into compelling, audience-appropriate communications for product releases and updates.
- Partner with Product and Sales teams to ensure consistent, on-brand messaging across all customer-facing materials.
- Develop supporting content and collateral, including case studies, one-pagers, sales decks, and website/landing page copy.
- Source and coordinate customer testimonials, references, and case study participants to support marketing and sales efforts.
- Act as the connective tissue between what the product does and how the market understands and buys it.
Go-to-Market Strategy & Product Launches
- Lead go-to-market planning and execution for new product releases, with a primary focus on our post-launch expansion strategy.
- Develop and execute launch plans, working cross-functionally with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure successful rollouts.
- Apply prior experience launching products into new markets or regions to help guide our expansion approach.
- Categorize and tier upcoming releases (e.g., major vs. minor) and run the cross-functional launch process accordingly.
- Train and enable the Sales team on new releases, including talking points, FAQs, and objection handling.
- Partner with the current Marketing Manager during the initial transition period to align on expansion goals and strategy before assuming full ownership.
Market & Competitive Intelligence
- Conduct in-depth market research to inform product release strategy and go-to-market decisions.
- Monitor and analyze the competitive landscape on an ongoing basis.
- Build and maintain comparison charts and battle cards to equip the Sales team with the tools they need to sell effectively against competitors.
- Gather customer and user insights through interviews, surveys, and win/loss analysis to inform messaging and provide input into the product roadmap.
- Track and report on adoption, feature usage, and launch performance against goals, using these insights to refine future go-to-market strategy.
Team Leadership
- Provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship to three direct reports, including regular 1:1s and ongoing coaching and development.
- Remove blockers and provide support to the team to help them do their best work.
- Manage and prioritize team workload, including oversight of tickets and project tracking (e.g., Shortcut).
- Serve as the primary link between the Marketing team and the CEO, relaying updates, priorities, and needs in both directions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with the C-Suite to help build go-to-market strategy for new solutions in support of broader company strategy, and oversee related content development, delivery, and reporting.
- Provide product marketing support to affiliate business within our corporate family as needed, including go-to-market strategy, content, and reporting.
What You'll Bring:
- 5+ years of product marketing experience, ideally within a SaaS or product-led environment; bonus points if you come from Legal Tech.
- Startup or scale-up experience, with comfort operating amid ambiguity and many moving parts.
- Proven experience leading go-to-market strategy for product launches, ideally including expansion into a new market, region, or province in Canada.
- Experience mentoring or leading a small team, including facilitating 1:1s and overseeing team output.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to turn complex product concepts into clear, compelling messaging for different audiences.
- Experience conducting competitive research and building sales enablement tools such as battle cards or comparison charts.
- Comfort working directly with senior leadership/executives and translating business strategy into marketing execution.
- Must be located in Canada with availability during core business hours (9–5 EST).
This is a newly created position within an existing team.
