Jealous Fruits is the northernmost large scale cherry producer in North America. We grow premium cherries along the shores of Okanagan Lake in the renowned Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Our cherries are all hand packed in our state-of-the-art facility, located right on our farm, and shipped to our customers worldwide.
Job Description
Under the direction of the Farm Manager the Crew Manager will organize work teams, monitor progress, and ensure quality compliance. During the demands of harvest, you will be required to communicate progress to the Farm Manager, ensure fruit is picked in a timely manner, and the quality of picking meets company standards. The Crew Manager will manage the worker camp and ensure all employees are following company policies and safety regulations. The successful candidate must be people-centered, supportive, and flexible to create a positive work environment. Ensuring employees adhere to company policies as well as work and food safety regulations will be of utmost importance.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage employees under his/her supervision (team leaders and farm workers) ensuring job tasks are successfully completed.
- Instruct, organize, and coordinate employees during harvest ensuring all guidelines of proper picking practices are being followed to ensure fruit quality.
- Ensure the employees are trained and follow the safe work procedures of the company.
- Collaborate with the Farm Manager to ensure day-to-day operations are successfully completed.
- Operate farm equipment when additional help is required.
- Implement strategies to ensure the camp residence remains tidy and all company rules and regulations are being followed.
- Ensure on-site equipment and appliances are properly maintained.

Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and have technical and practical competence to meet the daily demands of farming.
- Possess a sound knowledge of health and safety standards and a commitment to promoting safe farming practices.
- Ability to work long hours especially during the harvest months of July and August.
- Farming background and experience in planning and production will be considered an asset.
- Spanish will be considered an asset.
- Class 5 driver’s license.
Additional Information
Working conditions
Our working environment is extremely challenging over a short period of time. Applicants should be aware that this is a farming environment and days off may be limited during our growing and packing season.
- Work hours are not calendar based, but are dependent on crop maturity and weather
- Candidates must be willing to work in all weather conditions

Approximately 60+ hours per week June to September.

Approximately 40+ hours per week February to May

Approximately 40+ hours per week September to November
- Overtime provisions do not apply for Agricultural work
- The candidate must have the ability to work well with people of varying backgrounds and nationalities.

Hourly Wage: Commensurate with experience ($22 - $25)
