Summary
The Facility Operator is responsible to perform tasks that support the safe and reliable operations and maintenance of Gibson Energy operating assets. The position is responsible for carrying out activities to support day to day maintenance, regulatory compliance and execution of maintenance and growth projects while ensuring the integrity of facility assets and operations. This work will be based on the approved progression matrix.
Accountabilities (Duties & Responsibilities)
Supports the safe and reliable operation of the Terminal, Fractionation Plant and Custom Treating Terminal.
Understands the SCADA control of the facilities.
Conducts maintenance and repairs, equipment checks.
Assesses asset and environmental management.
Plans and executes assigned maintenance expense and capital projects including minor facility modifications or upgrades, and piping and equipment integrity work.
Submits projects and ideas to the budget process for potential implementation for the improvement of the facility.
Identifies non-value-added expenses/costs and assist with elimination of waste in day-to-day operating costs.
Provides hands-on assistance to maintenance personnel as required.
Ensures all maintenance projects and work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and compliant with all applicable regulations.
Manages the Gibson Energy’s Authorization to Work Program at their asset(s) and is aware of all work being performed in their respective location and identify any potential conflicts. Completes; worker observations and work site inspections.
Works with company Environmental & Regulatory Specialist to ensure all regulatory monitoring including groundwater, soil, and air is completed in a timely manner and meets all regulatory approval and provincial and federal requirements.
Executes all ground disturbance requirements, process calls, provides feedback and executes backfill supervision for third parties as required in Edmonton.
Provides emergency response, on-call support and relief coverage for facility management as required in Edmonton.
Promotes the Company’s strong safety culture by supporting EH&S related meetings, near miss, incident and compliance reporting and investigations.
Participates in operator training to achieve Facility Operator progression as per the Agreement.
Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications – Related Education, Experience & Skills
High School Diploma is required.
Experience in operations or maintenance in support of crude oil processing (upstream and downstream) or terminal and pipeline facilities.
Valid Class 5 NON-GDL Alberta Driver’s License.
Will be required to participate in the training program for the appropriate operations level.
Applicable Safety Training-H2S, First-aid/CPR, WHMIS.
Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office systems.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal, mentorship, coaching, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to be self motivated, act as a team player, and work well under pressure.
Align and be fully competent with the functional competencies outlined in the job profile assigned via the Competency Management and Development System (CMDS).
FPHO Certificate is required; 4th Class Power Engineering (Steam Ticket) is acceptable instead of FPHO Certificate for Hardisty Facility Operators.
Working Conditions
Field based position with minimal travel to other operating sites or Calgary Head Office.
Work involves hands-on support of active operations and maintenance in an outdoor environment.
This job is subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as outlined in Gibson Energy’s Drug & Alcohol policy.
Must be available to support outside normal work hours and on-call emergency response.
