Trophy Foods Inc is currently looking for General Labourers and Packers for our Morning, Afternoon and Overnight Shifts in our Calgary Foothills location. Applicants must have flexibility to work any shift if/ when required.
Position Summary
Packages materials and products manually and performs manual labour tasks as assigned or directed in the processing and/ or production area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Transports raw materials, finished products and packaging materials throughout the plant,
· Measures, dumps, and weighs materials/ ingredients for hoppers and machines,
· Lines, pads, crates and assembles cartons,
· Sorting and packing product,
· Checks products and packaging for quality defects in each step of the packaging process,
· Assists the Machine Operators as directed,
· Unloading containers of raw materials, finished products, and packaging materials,
· Cleans packaging containers, scales, filling machines, etc.,
· Places products into containers from spout, chute or manually,
· Weighs containers and adjusts quantity,
· Glues, closes, seals and labels containers,
· Packers - records information such as weight, time, packing date and lot numbers,
· Performs housekeeping task for related work area,
· Follows HACCP procedures, completes forms and records as set out by HACCP and Trophy Foods Inc.,
· Cleans and maintains equipment and work area according to the Company’s GMPs, sanitation procedures and frequency,
· Complies with Company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures including wearing all required PPE, Lockout Procedures, WHMIS, etc.,
· Other duties assigned by the Lead Hand or SPVR.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory while striving for excellence. The requirements listed below are a representative of the knowledge, skill, and/ or ability required.
· Education and/ or Experience – High school diploma is preferable and/ or 1 – 2 years related experience as a packer/ general labourer in a food manufacturing environment.
· Language Skills – Basic English skills are required to read and comprehend standard operating procedures, trouble shooting manuals, instructions, short memos, verbal communication, etc. Ability to write simple correspondence and ability to effectively present information one-on-one or in small groups.
· Mathematical Skills – Ability to understand, accurately record perform simple mathematical calculations – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
· Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one (1) or two (2) step instructions; ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
· Computer Skills – basic knowledge is an asset.
· Physical Demands – Standing/ walking the entire shift. Bending, reaching and climbing stairs at times. Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs, occasionally lifting over 40 lbs to heights at waist level and moving/ pushing/ pulling 50 – 100lbs with assistance or equipment such as a pallet jack.
· Work Environment - Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts. Continuous and constant noise that is above 80dBA (loud). Hearing protection is mandatory and will be provided; annual hearing tests are completed. Above normal temperatures during summer months. Some exposure to airborne particles within allowable limits.
