The Student Optician will work in conjunction with the Managing Optician to provide customer service and may be required to complete some or all of the following tasks, as deemed appropriate by the Managing Optician.
- Student Optician will be expected to fit and dispense eyeglasses & contact lenses, as applicable for their schooling, under the supervision of the Optician • Approach & greet customers • Awareness of general product information • Assist clients within the provincial guidelines for Opticians in your province • Enter information as required in the Cash register • Order and receive product as required • Maintain paperwork • Maintain department cleanliness standards • Perform pre-testing for eye exams • Book contact lens and eye exams • Take ownership in promoting products as deemed by Head Office • Creating & promoting in-store marketing initiatives in conjunction with the Managing Optician • Serve as the “go-to” person when the Optician is not available • Follow opening & closing procedures
Canada Walmart Division
- Has retail and cash register experience • Enrolled in a Provincial Optician Program • Fluent English Communication skills • Entry level computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook • Outgoing – comfortable approaching people & engaging customers • Professional • Organized • Attention to detail • Can work independently • Team player • Takes initiative - self-starter • flexible & available to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends (retail hours)
Licensing & Other Qualifications
- Completion of a Diploma in Opticianry. •Licensed by the relevant Provincial College of Opticians.
