We are looking for an accomplished Deputy Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic and operational finance leadership for a wholesale distribution business in Brampton, Ontario. This Contract opportunity is ideal for a senior finance executive who can guide enterprise-wide reporting, strengthen financial performance, and support informed decision-making across a complex, inventory-driven environment. The successful candidate will bring a hands-on approach to leadership while helping the organization enhance controls, improve financial processes, and support ongoing business transformation.
This is a 6-mon contract with primarily onsite setting in Brampton, ON.
Responsibilities:
- Lead consolidated financial oversight across multiple business entities, ensuring accurate reporting and clear visibility into overall performance.
- Evaluate monthly financial results, forecasts, and management analysis, offering informed challenge and recommendations to strengthen decision-making.
- Prepare and deliver financial insights for key stakeholders and strategic partners, presenting complex information in a clear and practical manner.
- Direct financial governance related to inventory, including control processes, operational finance support, and performance monitoring in an inventory-intensive setting.
- Oversee costing practices and assess margins and profitability to improve commercial insight and support stronger pricing and cost management.
- Manage treasury activities, cash flow planning, banking relationships, and required financial compliance reporting.
- Provide financial leadership for funding-related matters, including lending arrangements, capital support activities, and other special financing needs.
- Drive focus on working capital, liquidity, and broader financial results while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and business performance.
- Mentor and support the finance leadership team, serving as a senior advisor on complex issues and helping elevate overall finance capability.
- Strengthen finance processes, internal controls, and systems within a largely manual environment, while contributing leadership through ongoing organizational change.
- 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including senior-level responsibility within a complex business environment.
- Demonstrated background in manufacturing, wholesale distribution, or another inventory-heavy industry with multi-site operations.
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, accounting, forecasting, budgeting, and ad hoc financial analysis.
- Deep understanding of inventory management, costing methodologies, margin analysis, and working capital optimization.
- Experience overseeing treasury functions, banking relationships, lender reporting, and financial compliance obligations.
- Proven ability to lead finance transformation initiatives and improve processes or systems in environments that rely heavily on manual tools.
- Executive-level judgment with the ability to remain hands-on, provide sound challenge, and support senior business leaders effectively.
- Previous experience as a CFO, Deputy CFO, VP Finance, or in a comparable senior finance role with broad organizational scope.
