We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant(SLPA) to join our growing team!
Location: Mississauga
Schedule: 1-2 days/week
In this role you will:

Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (SLP/PT/OT) for Lifemark’s Community Step Up Program and develop a collaborative approach to care for clients and their caregivers

Assist stroke victims, paraplegics and the recently deaf to help normalize their speech patterns
-
Assist patients who've been in accidents or other traumatic incidents in learning or relearning proper swallowing techniques
-
Provide therapy and support to patients' families to facilitate social integration and recovery

Preparing screening, assessment, therapy and educational materials
-
Collecting patient information, as directed by the supervising SLP
-
Administering and scoring communication and hearing screenings which have the sole purpose of identifying patients requiring a speech-language assessment

Assisting the SLP while the SLP is conducting an assessment
-
Delivering specified treatment, remediation or education sessions or programs
-
Communicating with families, significant others and team members about the patient’s performance within parameters defined by the supervising SLP which do not involve clinical interpretation.

Writing patient progress notes that reflect patient performance and behaviours as well as any other relevant information

Help individuals with a range of disorders related to speech, language and swallowing

Abide by the standards of practice as set out by their professional college in practicing physiotherapy, and in all aspects of assessing and treating clients

The SLPA will be assigned a caseload based on the referrals received by other Healthcare professionals from Hospitals, Home and Community, Primary Care, and other Health Service providers

Must have a Masters in Speech and Language Pathology

Must be working towards becoming registered with the College of Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario in 2024

Experience working with the senior population and stroke clients is ideal

Community experience is an asset

Ability to work in Mississauga and provide services virtually

A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check
