Position Overview
Under the direction of the staff Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists assists with patient care. Performs reception and housekeeping duties in the department as assigned.

Must have previous direct patient care experience.
One (1) year experience as an assistant in a Rehabilitation Department is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Grade 12.
Rehabilitation Assistant Certificate or Diploma required.

It is recommended that, at minimum, staff possess the Family & Friends category of training.

Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.

Qualifications and Skills
Works within the Centre’s core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures. Must be able to work cooperatively and courteously with clients and health care personnel.
Must maintain confidentiality of client, staff and Centre information.

Must be able to organize and prioritise tasks.

Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively with patients, therapists and other health care personnel.

Must be cooperative and flexible in approach to daily tasks.

Computer experience and ability to use Windows and web-based software.

Physical Requirements
Capable of lifting, transferring and portering patients.
Physical health to meet the requirements of the position.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in the Collective Agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
