Payroll Administrator

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | 40 hours per week
Compensation: $27.00–$37.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience

As our company continues to grow and our project activity increases, we are expanding our Finance team to support the growing needs of our operations.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our growing Finance team. This position will support the accurate and timely processing and administration of both employee and subcontractor payroll.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with high volumes of information, and able to meet strict weekly deadlines in a fast-paced and growing environment.
Responsibilities
- Process employee and subcontractor payroll accurately and on time.
- Review and verify hours, field tickets, rates, overtime, allowances, deductions, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee and subcontractor payroll records.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Ensure required documentation and approvals are received prior to processing.
- Prepare payroll-related documentation, including T4s, Records of Employment (ROEs), and other required filings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll legislation, collective agreements, company policies, and procedures.
- Respond to employee and subcontractor payroll inquiries and resolve payment-related concerns.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, year-end processing, and audits.
- Maintain organized records and appropriate supporting audit trails.
- Work collaboratively with Payroll, Finance, Operations, and project teams to ensure deadlines are met.
- Assist with payroll process improvements and the continued transition toward streamlined and paperless processes.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
- Other payroll and Finance-related duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous payroll, accounting administration, or subcontractor administration experience.
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation, or working toward the designation, is considered an asset.
- Experience in construction, oil and gas, or a project-based environment is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and data-entry skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage high-volume workloads and strict deadlines.
- Strong Excel and general computer skills.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
