We seek Youth Care Workers who want casual, part-time and FULL-TIME HOURS!
Our Youth Care Workers (YCWs) are responsible for the direct care, support and supervision of the residents and provides for the youth’s emotional and physical needs through the provision of basic parenting duties, therapeutic interventions, and a safe, nurturing, environment. The YCW is directly responsible to the Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
- To provide support and supervision to residents and implement daily therapeutic activity plans and daily routines.
- To participate with the team and each resident in the establishment and implementation of individual service plans, behaviour support interventions, and the individual crisis support plans.
- To adhere to program routines including but not limited to morning wake-up, chores, night duties, room checks (3 times per hour at minimum, but more often when instructed as such by either the Program Manager or the Night Chores Checklist of the particular program), etc
- To be responsible for budget money provided to them in order to meet the daily needs of the residents and to provide receipts for approved expenditures on a monthly basis.
- To take residents for required medical, dental, optical, and other healthcare appointments as directed by the Program Manager and in accordance to the agency policy and procedures.
- To dispense medications to residents according to a doctor’s instructions and in accordance to the agency Policy on Use of Medications and Procedure for Administering Medications.
- To facilitate resident contact with family and friends
- To provide positive role modelling to youth, to conduct themselves as a caring adult authority figure, and to make decisions in the best interest of the youth.
- To contribute to the development of the agency’s strategic plan; to participate in the program evaluation procedures and in setting goals and strategies for program improvements.
- To operate according to the agency’s Code of Ethics.
- To learn and operate by the agency’s philosophy, policies, and procedures.
- To ensure timely and accurate information on a daily basis concerning the needs and behaviours of residents and to follow the agency’s policy on reporting and documenting critical information.
Qualifications:
The Youth Care Worker will have a combination of education and experience related to working with youth and will possess personal attributes that facilitate the development of trusting and caring relationships with youth. Knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and beliefs is an asset. Criminal Record Check, valid class 5 driver’s license and valid first aid/CPR level C are required.
