Position Summary:
Our products reach thousands of healthcare professionals and improve the quality of human health of millions of Canadians through technology, and together with our parent companies Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw Companies Limited, we want to make healthcare simpler, safer, more secure, reliable, and efficient. Our end users come from many different user bases, including Healthcare Providers, Allied Health Professionals, Pharmacies, Patients, and Retail Consumers. As a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for providing the path for the organization to navigate its journey to the cloud. You will work closely with various teams to marry abstract thoughts and ideal end results with solid design principles and solutions, while adhering to standards, policies, and industry best practices. Privacy and security are critical considerations as our products and services involve large volumes of Personal Health Information and Personal Information shared across a variety of products and services.

Essential Functions:

Problem solving complex issues and converting them into solutions.

Understanding the requirements - identifying the stakeholders, helping to analyze the requirements, and extracting those of architectural significance.

Formulate and model the design - creating a detailed solution which will address the functional and non-functional requirements.

Communicating the vision - making sure that everyone understands the architecture.

Assess current technologies within the organization and provide modern solutions where appropriate.

Supporting the application architects and developers – making sure that they can realize the architecture by a combination of mentoring and direct involvement.

Verifying the implementation – ensuring the delivered system is consistent with the agreed architecture and will meet the requirements.

Contribute and define best practices and design patterns for services and solutions.

Work independently and within teams as required.

Qualifications:
-
7+ years of technology architecture experience.
-
3+ years working with cloud solutions – preferably Azure.
-
Azure Certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) highly desired.

Experience architecting solutions in the cloud for Mobile, Web and Desktop applications.

Project leadership experience is advantageous.

Experience with designing integrated solutions across an enterprise.

Experience with implementing scalable solutions.

Experience working with enterprise architecture or information architecture frameworks, methodologies, templates, and tools.
Assets:
-
Technical degree in computer science or engineering highly desired or equivalent work experience.

Excel at technical writing, design specification documentation, solution blueprint creation.
-
Experience with Healthcare information standards like HL7, including FHIR.
-
Experience with data aggregation and anonymization / de-identification.
-
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
-
Privacy and/or Security Certifications.
-
Knowledge of healthcare from a practitioner and patient perspective.
