We are looking for a Part-Time (24hrs/wk) Behaviour Support Worker at our Youth therapeutic program in Richmond. This is a home serving an at-risk youth with mental health issues and complex needs. This line is 3pm-11pm shifts on Friday, Sunday, & Monday. The care plan for this client requires that we consider male applicants only.

You must have:
Post-secondary education in ECE, ABA, Psychology or related field and/or equivalent experience working with at-risk youth
Minimum 2 years’ experience working with youth with aggressive behaviours, and complex mental and behavioural challenges
Experience/knowledge of the youth justice system
Demonstrated knowledge of FASD, ADHD, and attachment and trauma issues
Clear and concise written and verbal communication
Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check
A current Class 5 BC Drivers License and acceptable driving record. Click here to download your abstract from ICBC.

You’ll score more points if you have:
Current First Aid and CPR certificate
Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
A demonstrated ability to deal with challenging, street-entrenched youth, strategy development, mediation, counseling, advocacy, community networking, and life skills management
A can-do attitude and willing to step up in challenging situations
Demonstrated knowledge of different child and youth care approaches, the development of youth service plans, and legislation and government regulations applicable to the program
Knowledge of supportive strategies, needs, and risk assessment
Good understanding of crisis management

Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
Building positive working relationships with youth, family, and professionals involved in the care team
Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting and maintaining appropriate limits
Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and youth care plans
Household maintenance duties
Engaging in frequent interaction with clients, using appropriate means of communication

Salary: $21.00-$23.50/hour plus benefits
