Position Summary:
We are currently seeking skilled, compassionate, and dedicated Youth Support Workers to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide responsive, trauma informed support to youth with intellectual disabilities. The candidate will prioritize the safety and well-being of all residents, while guiding them in their daily activities, including maintaining relationships and community responsibilities. Working under the direction of the Program Supervisor, the Youth Support Worker will be pivotal in assisting with the day-to-day living and operations of housing and programs, fostering a nurturing environment that respects each person’s needs. You would be working collaboratively within a team to foster trusting relationships with youth, peers, family, and community members.
What you will do:

Implement, supervise, mentor and guide youth in daily activities, including coordinated treatment interventions.

Provide emotional, spiritual, life skills and social support in organized recreational and social activities.

Guide youth in maintaining positive social interactions while developing relationships and interpersonal skills that promote healthy interactions.

Encourage and assist youth to participate in household responsibilities, including meal preparation, housekeeping, and house maintenance.

Manage behaviour effectively, responding to crisis situations in accordance with organization policies and procedures, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).

Assist in administering medications following organization protocols, while maintaining accurate documentation of all medication-related activities.

Support in managing personal finances on a day-to-day basis, while promoting financial literacy and responsibility.

Ensure completion and secure storage of records and documentation following organization policies and procedures and the licensing requirements.

Participate in staff meetings, engage in professional development opportunities, partake in mandatory training, contribute to new staff training initiatives, and uphold organizational policies.

Ensure a safe and well-maintained living environment, adhering to fire safety regulations, food handling protocols in alignment with public health standards, Government and organization’s policies, procedures, and regulations.

Ensure compliance with the privacy, confidentiality, and access provisions outlined in the Child and Family Services Act.
