Operate Honing Machine to fabricate products for the aerospace industry.
Job Description / Responsibilities:
- Responsible for operating honing machines to hone internal or external surfaces of metal parts
- Setup machine as required by drawing specifications
- Determine product dimensions, tooling, and to plan operational sequence by studying work orders, or machining instructions.
- Make changes to machine operation when necessary.
- Select tooling to be used in machine operation, utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirements.
- Thread and hand feed materials through machine cutters or abraders
- Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
- Inspect or measure product through the use of measuring instruments to ensure conformance.
- Hone parts to prescribed dimensions.
- Follow the company Health and Safety Policy and practice safe working habits, industrial hygiene and good housekeeping around benches and machines.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities Required:
- 3 to 5 years of related experience and/or training
- Must have previous Honing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience using various mechanical inspection tools
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
- Aerospace experience is a benefit
- Read programs on machine
- Results-oriented
- Analytical thinking
- Interpersonal skills (including working effectively with others and influencing skills)
- Demonstrates strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects
- Successful candidates must meet and be cleared under all requirements relating to CGD
- Able to read blue print drawings
- Read programs on machine
- Ability to follow directions
