Position Overview:
- Position: Parking Enforcement Security Guard (Private Property)
- Location: Durham Region
- Schedule: Must be available to work a continental schedule (day and night shifts)
- Hours: 40 to 44 hours per week
- Salary: $20.00 - $21.00 starting
Role & Responsibilities:
- Monitor parking areas for unauthorized vehicles, expired permits, blocked entrances, fire lanes, reserved spaces, and other parking violations.
- Respond to parking-related complaints, inquiries, and incidents from customers, tenants, property owners, or management.
- Maintain a visible security presence to help deter unauthorized parking, theft, vandalism, and other undesirable activity.
- Report suspicious activity, safety hazards, damaged property, accidents, and security incidents to supervisors or the appropriate authorities.
- Operate a company vehicle safely and responsibly while conducting routine patrols and enforcement activities.
- Follow all traffic laws, company procedures, site-specific regulations, and safety requirements while driving and performing enforcement duties.
- Use handheld devices, mobile applications, or other enforcement equipment to record violations and process parking tickets.
- Inspect parking permits, passes, and other authorization documents when required.
- Maintain professional and respectful communication when interacting with drivers, property occupants, and members of the public.
- Assist with maintaining accurate daily patrol, ticketing, incident, and activity reports.
- Coordinate with supervisors, property management, towing services, or law enforcement when necessary.
- Perform other security, parking enforcement, and site-monitoring duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence with a clean or satisfactory driving record.
- Valid MLEO Parking Ceritifcation in any municipality within Durham Region.
- Previous experience operating company vehicles in a professional work environment.
- Ability to safely and responsibly drive for extended periods while conducting parking enforcement patrols.
- Minimum 1 year of security or parking enforcement experience is an asset.
- Police Foundations graduates are preferred.
- Must be available and willing to work any shift, including days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong observation and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to identify and document parking violations accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous when dealing with challenging or confrontational situations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following company policies and site procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to complete written reports, incident reports, parking tickets, and other required documentation accurately.
- Successful completion of any required screening, background checks, and company training.
