Founded in 1986, The Animal Hospital of High Park has been a fixture of the Junction Community for over 30 years. In 2020 we moved to our new location just north of the Junction. We are a full-service companion and exotic animal hospital, and all our staff are trained in the care of cats and dogs, as well as all pets with fur, feathers and scales.
We are searching a Veterinary Technician to join our amazing team! Other than being an avid animal lover, the ideal candidate that is a good fit for our team will also display a passion for being a positive support for all team members, and is enthusiastic and self-motivated to tackle each day and it's challenges.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Starting up appointments, making clients and patients feel welcomed
· Client education of all small animal and exotic animal husbandry and care
· Preparing medication and providing dosage instructions to clients
· Pet handling and restraint
· Collecting and preparing lab samples/slides
· Caring for hospitalized patients
· Surgery preparations, monitoring, clean up and wrapping surgery packs
· Performing radiographs
· Assisting with dental procedures (radiographs, tooth grading, scaling & polishing)
· Monitor, record, and report on patient symptoms
· General cleaning and upkeep of the hospital and patients
· Answering phone calls and scheduling appointments using Avimark
· Helping with maintenance of inventory
· Reports to the Team Lead.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 1+ years working in an animal related field.
- 1+ years Veterinary Technician experience
- Avimark software experience will be considered an asset
- Fluent in Microsoft Word
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once while remaining focused
- Thrives in a team centered environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Displays strong initiative and self-motivation
- Handles constructive feedback positively and able to apply it effectively
