Barista / Lead Barista
Barburu is growing, and we’re looking for experienced and passionate baristas to join our team.
As we continue to grow, Barburu is expanding further into specialty coffee, with a stronger focus on coffee quality, education, consistency, and craft. We’re looking for baristas who are excited to grow with us and help build this next chapter of Barburu.
We are currently hiring Baristas and Lead Baristas for both full-time and part-time positions. Team members will primarily work at our current Mississauga location. As our new Mississauga location opens, there will be opportunities to work between both Mississauga locations. Team members who are interested may also have the opportunity to work at our Toronto location.
We’re looking for people who genuinely care about coffee, hospitality, and the customer experience. Our ideal candidates have strong coffee knowledge, professional barista experience, and are comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced café while maintaining quality and consistency.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in hospitality, including cafés, restaurants, or other fast-paced service environments
- Professional barista experience
- Strong knowledge of coffee, espresso, and espresso-based beverages
- A genuine interest in specialty coffee and developing deeper coffee knowledge
- Understanding of espresso dialing, extraction, milk steaming, and drink consistency
- Desire to continue learning and improving
- Friendly, confident, and comfortable interacting with customers
- Able to stay organized and efficient during high-volume service
- Strong attention to cleanliness, presentation, and detail
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work well within a team
- Willing to support the entire café, including restocking, cleaning, customer service, and helping other stations when needed
- Weekend availability is required, with availability for at least one weekend day
Lead Barista Candidates
For our Lead Barista position, we’re looking for experienced candidates who can take ownership, support the team, and play an important role in developing Barburu’s specialty coffee program.
Ideal candidates should have experience with:
- Dialing in espresso and making adjustments throughout the day
- Maintaining coffee quality and consistency
- Training and supporting other baristas
- Maintaining recipes and beverage standards
- Organizing bar workflow during busy periods
- Supporting and guiding team members
- Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards
- Opening and/or closing responsibilities
- Leading by example and contributing to a positive, efficient work environment

Barburu is a growing café and bakery concept focused on premium matcha, pastries, and specialty coffee.
As we expand, specialty coffee will become a bigger part of what we do. We want to build a team that is curious about coffee, takes pride in their craft, and wants to continue developing their skills and knowledge alongside the company.
