Who We Are
Statistics Canada is the National Statistical Office. The Agency ensures Canadians have the key information on Canada's economy, society and environment that they require to function effectively as citizens and decision-makers.
You will be part of the Census Marketing, Engagement and Research local team helping promote Census 2021 across Canada. The Census is the primary source of reliable demographic data for specific groups such as lone-parent families, seniors and language groups. The census information is used in making decisions—for your neighbourhood, your community, your province, and the country as a whole.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for marketing, communications and outreach professionals with experience in the development, coordination and execution of partner and stakeholder engagement tactics; providing advice to management on strategic communications approaches and best practices; and, development, coordination and execution of media and public relations activities.
Intent of the process
The intent of this selection process is to fill 8 IS-02 temporary positions and 3 IS-03 temporary positions with a variety of linguistic profiles for a duration of 8 and 10 months respectively, with the possibility of extension.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process to staff identical or similar positions within Statistics Canada. These positions may be staffed with various tenures and various security requirements.

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution OR an acceptable combination of education and/or experience.
Incumbents of IS positions who do not possess the formal education prescribed are deemed to meet the university graduation standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without any specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
EXP 1 – Recent* significant ** experience in responding to stakeholder or client inquiries
EXP 2 – Recent* significant ** experience in creating and maintaining relationships with external organizations, stakeholders or clients
EXP 3 – Recent* significant** experience in providing client services or communications advice to clients or supervisors
- Recent experience is defined as experience generally acquired within the past 5 years.
**Significant experience is defined as experience generally acquired over a period of one (1) year for IS-02s and over two (2) years for IS-03s

Candidates' qualifications may be assessed through written tests and interviews. Candidates may be eliminated at any point during the selection process if they fail to demonstrate any of the essential criteria through their behaviour, for example, through: communication with Human Resources, informal discussion, selection interview, etc.
As an excluded employee, you will be subject to the majority of the provisions of the Public Service Employment Act with some exceptions. Your employment will be subject to the following:
- You will not be eligible for internal appointment processes or deployments, except for acting appointments and deployments made to positions excluded by the Statistics Canada Census and Survey Related Term Employment Exclusion Approval Order (EAO).
- You will not be eligible for indeterminate status as a result of your employment in the Census program; time spent as an excluded employee will not count towards the three-year term to indeterminate conversion.
- You will be entitled to seven days' notice if you are rejected on probation.
- You will be entitled to seven days' notice when your employment ends, should your services no longer be required by reason of lack of work, the end of the census cycle or the transfer of work to other staff.
