Position Summary
The Child & Youth Mental Health Worker will provide direct support to children and youth with mental health and developmental challenges. Reporting to the Program Coordinator or Program Director, this role focuses on promoting emotional well-being, social development, and independence through structured programming, one-on-one support, and collaborative interventions with families and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct mental health support to children and youth in residential, day program, and community settings.
- Assist clients with emotional regulation, social skills, and life skills development.
- Plan, implement, and facilitate structured individual and group activities.
- Monitor and document client progress, behavior, and incidents.
- Implement behavior support plans and crisis intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Support clients in accessing community resources and mental health services.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and therapeutic environment for all clients.
- Advocate for clients’ needs while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Qualifications (Must-Have)
- College Diploma or University Degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field.
- Experience working with children and youth with developmental, behavioral, or mental health challenges.
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle.
- Current First Aid & CPR certification.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability in supporting children and youth with diverse needs.
- Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or similar behavioral support strategies.
Assets (Preferred but not Required)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and person-centered planning.
- Experience in recreational or therapeutic programming for youth.
- Familiarity with mental health assessment tools and interventions.

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts.
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.86-$26.86 per hour
