KOA has a current opening at our Vancouver Office for an experienced Professional Mechanical Engineer that will develop a diverse portfolio of mechanical engineering projects with a focus on the design, construction, and maintenance of complex mechanical systems. The successful candidate will utilize their experience and expertise in the field of mechanical engineering to provide solutions to a diverse clientele that includes multinational industry leaders.

Oversee and execute office and field engineering projects which can include major design and construction projects from clients based in Canada, the United States, and the globe;

Prepare detailed plans, calculations, and specifications related to a wide variety of engineering projects;

Prepare proposals, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents for mechanical and multidiscipline engineering projects;

Perform or oversee engineering construction inspections for assigned projects;

Perform or oversee testing and inspections of mechanical components and materials;

Prepare detailed engineering reports regarding the progress and completion of engineering projects;

Perform or oversee field surveys as required throughout the project life cycle; and

Analyze data, prepare reports, and deliver presentations regarding proposed and ongoing projects to KOA staff and clients.

BS in Mechanical Engineering with a Professional Engineering Registration (P. Eng.) or eligible for registration within 1 year.

5+ years of experience in mechanical/industrial engineering design

Knowledge and application of the principles and practices of CAD development and creation of drawing packages at various stages of design development

Ability to effectively communicate and interact with Krech Ojard staff, individuals from other organizations, and client representatives.

Knowledge and ability to implement complex mechanical engineering principles and practices applied to project design and construction;

Extensive knowledge and practical application of the basic principles and practices of engineering;

Detailed knowledge of principles, methods, equipment, and materials used in construction of mechanical and multidiscipline engineering projects;

Experience taking precise field measurements, making, and interpreting the resulting calculations;

Experience with varied types of mechanical systems commonly found in the pulp/paper industry, mining, PRB coal storage/trans load facilities, bulk material handling systems/facilities or related industrial facilities;
Depending on the successful candidate’s background and experience, compensation for this position will include an annual base salary in the range of $90,000 – $130,000 CAD per year. Offers for employment take the candidate’s education, experience, technical skill, and expertise into consideration.
