We are seeking a friendly and reliable Hotel Front Desk & Guest Services Associate to join our team at Riverside Inn Hotel, a small 18 room hotel in Lake Cowichan. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and takes pride in keeping both guests and spaces well cared for. The shifts required are likely Friday, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays but other days may be needed.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for guests while also assisting with housekeeping and laundry duties as needed. This is a multi-tasking role suited to someone who is organized, dependable, and enjoys a variety of responsibilities throughout the day. Previous hotel experience is an asset but not required. Training will be provided.
Responsibilities
Front Desk & Guest Services
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in and check-out procedures
- Answer multi-line phone systems and respond to reservations, inquiries, and guest requests
- Provide excellent customer service and respond promptly to guest needs
- Handle guest concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently
- Maintain accurate guest records, reservations, and billing information
- Provide local recommendations and general information to guests
- Monitor hotel activity and ensure safety and security procedures are followed
- Keep the front desk area clean, organized, and welcoming
Housekeeping & Room Cleaning
- Clean guest rooms to hotel standards, including making beds, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing bathrooms
- Restock room supplies such as towels, linens, toiletries, and coffee items
- Inspect rooms after cleaning to ensure quality and readiness for guests
- Report maintenance issues or damages promptly
- Assist with cleaning common areas including hallways, stairways, and guest areas
- Support deep cleaning tasks as scheduled
Laundry Duties
- Wash, dry, fold, and organize hotel linens and towels
- Monitor laundry supplies and notify management when items are running low
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area
- Sort and prepare linens for daily room turnover
Additional Duties
- Assist with preparing rooms for arriving guests during busy periods
- Support inventory tracking for linens, cleaning supplies, and guest items
- Deliver guest items such as extra towels or supplies upon request
- Assist with seasonal cleaning tasks and special projects
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
- Help maintain the overall cleanliness and presentation of the hotel property
- Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations
Qualifications
- Previous hotel, housekeeping, or customer service experience preferred but not required
- Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Comfortable performing physical tasks including lifting laundry and cleaning rooms
- Good attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Familiarity with computers and basic office systems is an asset
- Flexibility to work weekday and weekend shifts.
- Front desk hours are 9AM-5PM Sunday-Thursday, 9AM-8PM Fridays and Saturdays.
- Need to be able to pick up shifts as needed to cover on short notice.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
