IT HELP DESK SPECIALIST
PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates programs in more than 240 schools providing before and after school care. PLASP also operates 38 full-day early learning and child care centres and 6 EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

Reporting to the Manager IT Systems, the IT Help Desk Specialist will provide technical support, deliver efficient resolution of IT issues while maintaining strong customer service and alignment with modern cloud, security, and compliance standards.
THE POSITION INVOLVES…
- Log, categorize, and manage tickets using ITSM tools (familiarity with any ticketing system required)
- Support and troubleshoot Microsoft operating systems and products, business applications, remote access solutions (RDS and cloud platforms), and endpoint management tools Microsoft Intune
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; escalate issues when required with appropriate documentation and supporting details
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including device and account setup, and the management of user accounts, password resets, MFA, and access provisioning within Microsoft Entra ID /Azure AD
- Follow organizational cybersecurity policies and procedures, maintaining endpoint security posture through antivirus compliance, patch awareness, and Report security risks or suspicious activity and escalate when necessary
- Support MFA and identity verification processes, and assist with basic security incident response for phishing reports and compromised accounts
- Support management of security certificates, including deployment, renewal tracking, and basic troubleshooting
- Participates in PLASP meetings as requested by the Manager of IT and/or Director of IT, and meets regularly with the immediate supervisor as well as internal and external stakeholders as required
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager of IT and/or Director of IT
THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE…
- Diploma in IT or related field
- 1-2 years of experience in IT or related field
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft 365, and business applications
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi troubleshooting), and system security
- Familiarity with endpoint management tools (e.g., Microsoft Intune) and ticketing systems
- Excellent time management, organizational, and task prioritization abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with volunteers and students an asset
