Program Supervisor
P.L.A.Y. Community Child Development Centre is a not-for-profit childcare centre based in the heart of Kensington in NW Calgary. We are looking for a Program Supervisor with strong administrative focus and attention to detail to join our team. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure safe day-to-day operations for the children and the teachers;
- Direct and manage the operations of the PLAY centre, with a specific focus on administrative responsibilities, mentorship and succession planning
Responsibilities:
- Supervise teachers - assign tasks, provide feedback instruction and support, prepare annual evaluations, participate in check-in meetings
- Communicate regularly with a variety of stakeholders - teachers, parents, landlord, early intervention support teams
- Create and manage staff schedules
- Follow all Licensing, Health and Fire regulations including communication with Licensing Officer and the timely reporting of incidents
- Maintain accurate children's files, teacher files and other online documentation including checklists, enrollment sheets, and more
- Make purchases according to annual budget and prepare financial records, including support for payroll and benefits processes
- Support policy development and ensure that processes are being followed and accurately documented
- Complete Human Resources responsibilities including recruitment, screening, interviews and onboarding
- Participate in and develop staff meeting agendas, PD Day training, and other annual events (Mother's Day, Father's Day, Parent-Teacher meetings, and more);
- Assist with curriculum development and the implementation of the FLIGHT curriculum framework by applying a strong pedagogical lens
- Exhibit a pleasant/calm demeanour, practice and exemplify patience, warmth and kindness, understanding, self-confidence, good humour during stressful situations, and show genuine care to staff, children and parents.
- Reports to the Executive Director for other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Minimum Level 3, or 5 years experience in a supervisory position
- Police Security Check
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Passion, desire and experience to continue working in the childcare field
- Motivated, flexible, able to take initiative, and to work and function within a team; be able to complete tasks unsupervised.
- Written and oral fluency in English

- Competitive base pay + government wage top up
