Location: We are seeking an experienced Facility Set Up Supervisor (Full Time) for our Vancouver Convention Centre operation.
Compensation: $29.25-31.75 per hour.
Sodexo Live! is the Official Supplier of Food and Beverage Services to the Vancouver Convention Centre. Located on Vancouver’s waterfront with a dramatic mountain backdrop, the award-winning Vancouver Convention Centre offers one of the most beautiful settings in the world. As British Columbia’s flagship convention centre, the facility hosts more than 500 events and welcomes hundreds of thousands of attendees each year, while generating significant economic activity for the Province.
Principal Function:
The Facility Set Up Supervisor position supports the Facility Set Up operations by performing tasks to ensure all rooms are set to accurate specifications by liaise with managers and department heads within the facility to ensure that all events and client needs are met and that work is completed in accordance with the Facilities Service Standards.
They may perform duties such as operating a forklift, electric cart and other equipment, and will be responsible for strictly adhering to all Sodexo Live! standards and established venue policies for accuracy, and workplace safety.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Review all work orders daily and look ahead at upcoming weeks for event demands; ensure all items and equipment that are required through the course of the shift and for each event are ready.
- Supervision of team members, directing the work to ensure all assigned tasks are completed according to deadlines and to accurate specifications as per work orders and floor plans.
- Communicate directly with event client, MOD’s, contractors and internal teams to ensure accuracy of the set ups.
- Consult with management in various departments in regards to changes, safety concerns or special requests, prioritizing and reallocating team resources as required.
- Employee performance management and coaching, using judgement to escalate to management and HR as needed.
- Assist in training of all employees in proper room set-ups and use of equipment.
- Identify additional training and coaching needs, to be done on the job and escalated to management where appropriate.
- Ensure all storage rooms are kept in a clean and orderly fashion with all equipment on the proper racks.
- Ensure that all standards for safety and sanitation are maintained.
- Contribute to goal of 100% customer satisfaction through personal commitment to internal customer service.
Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time.
Qualifications/Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of Supervisory experience in fast-paced event-based facility.
- 2 years’ experience in a food service/operations/warehousing environment preferred.
- Experience working in events, or a large-scale convention or hotel environment would be an advantage and familiarity with various types of room set-ups and equipment.
- Prior knowledge of and experience using lifts and/or Forklift Certificate.
- Must have strong leadership and decision-making skills, with proven ability to lead a team, direct employees to assigned activities, and to hold them accountable for productivity.
- Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Computer proficiency specifically in Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficiency with a comprehensive electronic catering/F&B system, particularly EBMS, is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
- Proficient English communication skills in order to effectively interact verbally and listen attentively to co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to work under pressure and independently.
- Ability to work well in a high stress, fast paced environment.
- Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift. Must be able to frequently lift and carry food and other items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally greater. Must be able to go from warm to cold temperatures (workstation to coolers).
Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
