The position at a glance
The BNP Paribas Canada’s Corporate Coverage group focuses on developing and enhancing BNP Paribas’ relationships with leading Canadian companies across a wide range of industries. The team is specifically in charge of:
Managing client relationships on a global basis
Identifying new industry trends and related client needs
Working closely with our product specialists in delivering tailored solutions to our clients across the full product suite (mergers & acquisitions, debt capital markets, derivatives, transactional banking, structured financing, etc)
Understanding client needs and objectives
Establishing and nurturing regular contacts at all levels of the client organization in order to develop long-term business relationships
We are looking for an Analyst to join our Montreal Corporate Coverage team.
In detail
Take an active role in the origination of transactions with some of the largest Canadian corporations, assist with the development of new client relationships and have an overall impact on the Corporate Coverage team. Under the direction of a Senior Banker the successful candidate will:
Provide support to origination, and deal execution, which include handling client requests such as acquisition financing, refinancing, and extension/ amendments
Actively monitor credit quality and exposure by remaining up-to-date with the customer base, industry, economic trends, and market information
Create strategic sector and/or client presentation materials, with senior team members guidance
Prepare client and industry analysis
Manage pitch book process in close coordination with product teams
Develop product understanding and expertise with product specialists
Act as the back-up vis-à-vis clients, the business lines and other departments of the bank
Contribute to the initial credit assessment to determine the opportunities worth pursuing
Coordinate the risk process when required to achieve successful outcomes
Develop & maintain client/prospect fact sheets (ratings, exposure, opportunities, deals, etc.), pipeline reports, and weekly/monthly activity summaries
Prepare detailed RAROC and other internal client profitability models in support of selected transactions
Prepare ad-hoc analysis and lead other projects on a case-by-case basis
Manage all client matters related to KYC, Due Diligence, Compliance and CSR
Work conditions: This position provides for standard working conditions in an office and a normal work schedule from Monday to Friday.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
Education :
Undergraduate or master degree related to finance, commerce or accounting with outstanding academic record
Experience :
Experience in Corporate and/or Investment Banking is an asset
Technical knowledge :
Credit and risk analysis skills
Solid understanding of financial markets
Strong knowledge of financial analysis techniques
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
Aptitudes and behaviour :
Proactive, reliable and self-starter, and follows through on commitments
Strong affinity for team work
Ability to navigate across large organizations and form strong internal partnerships
Display intellectual curiosity, with a desire to acquire a broad and deep understanding of our clients their industry and how banking products can be of value
Communicates effectively orally and in writing, with an emphasis on analytical, logical and persuasive arguments
Given the vast majority of our clients are based in Quebec as well as elsewhere in Canada, bilingual French and English proficiency in both writing and speaking is a requirement .
