As an integral part of the drilling operations team, the blaster is responsible for installing explosives in blast holes according to the company’s blasting plans.
- Respect safety standards at all times;
- Inspect the work environment at the beginning and end of the shift;
- Complete the equipment inspection card (if applicable);
- Read and understand plans and specifications;
- Handle, transport, and store explosives (and accessories);
- Load explosives into blast holes;
- Unblock blast holes using a compressed air hose when necessary;
- Any other related tasks.
- Have a high school diploma or other equivalent degree;
- Underground hard rock common core in Ontario;
- Hold a valid explosive license;
- Fluent in English is required.
