SCOPE
Reporting to the Technical Officer in the Department of Health, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, the incumbent provides teaching, evaluation, and supervision as well as guidance, to students within the Exercise Science curriculum.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare and teach undergraduate laboratories.
• Meet, mentor, guide, counsel, and direct undergraduate students with respect to format and content of laboratory projects and assignments.
• Prepare, administer, and grade laboratory exams, quizzes, projects, assignments and tabulate final grades.
• Train and supervise undergraduate and graduate students to assist teaching of undergraduate labs.
• Compose and prepare laboratory manuals and develop instructional videos.
• Recommend improvements to laboratory facilities and practices and implement approved upgrades.
• Set up and maintain technical equipment as required.
• Manage teaching inventory; research and recommend purchases.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and two to four years of related experience. Must be a Certified Athletic Therapist. Experience in demonstrating or tutoring is highly desirable.
• Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English in order to compose and prepare laboratory manuals and to develop instructional videos. Basic knowledge (Level 3) of spoken French to answer general inquiries.
• Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Word and Excel in order to format and create documents.
• Familiarity with the University policies and procedures, including academic regulations.
• Understanding of career possibilities for undergraduates in Exercise Science.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, to work independently, and to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
