SC Education is a firm contracted to enroll and finance students by a leading western Canadian post-secondary college with multiple locations in western Canada. The college delivers diploma programs in both on-campus and online modalities in the business, health, hospitality, legal and technology fields.
The Opportunity
SC Education is currently seeking to fill the permanent role of Database Administrator. This role is an onsite position in Calgary, Alberta. This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about technology and dedicated to supporting senior managers with sound technical skills and decision-making. This role involved the implementation and creation of SQL reports, database administration, and managing weekly analytics reporting. This position would be a fit for those with a strong background in database management and report generation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop SQL queries, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Student Information System (SIS) reports to support Senior Managers’ operational and administrative data and analytics for evidence-based decision-making;
- Migrate data from legacy systems over to a new CRM application;
- Coordinate and support end users to identify and resolve technical issues;
- Secure and distribute reports, ensuring accurate, timely, and focused information is provided to various stakeholders;
- Create resources to train and support learners on how to use the technology;
- Use active listening and analytical skills to understand user issues, ask probing questions to gather relevant information, and resolve problems in a timely manner;
- Prioritize, document, and track technical support requests to ensure prompt and effective resolution;
- Perform miscellaneous job-related tasks as assigned, supporting the broader goals of the team and organization.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary degree (preferred) or diploma in a related field like Computer Science, Database Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems;
- Minimum 3 years related work experience and a combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities;
- Experience creating and maintaining SSRS reports and SSIS packages
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks efficiently with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy;
- Exceptional phone etiquette, communication and customer service skills;
- Experienced in working in an education or similar environment (preferred);
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate complex technical concepts in layman’s terms.
