Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Lactation Consultant to provide expert support and education to new mothers and families. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, nursing, and medical terminology, with the ability to deliver personalized lactation guidance within a hospital or clinical setting. This role involves collaborating with healthcare teams to promote breastfeeding success and improve maternal and infant health outcomes.
Duties
- Assess and support mothers experiencing breastfeeding challenges, offering tailored lactation plans.
- Educate patients on breastfeeding techniques, positioning, and latch methods to ensure effective feeding.
- Document patient interactions accurately using case management systems and electronic health records.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including pediatric dentists.
- Provide guidance on breastfeeding equipment, storage, and hygiene practices.
- Conduct follow-up consultations to monitor progress and address ongoing concerns.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, acute care practices, and pediatric health standards related to lactation.
- Assist in developing educational materials for patients and staff regarding breastfeeding best practices.
- Utilize organizational skills to manage caseloads efficiently while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Skills
- Experience in hospital or acute care settings with a focus on pediatrics or nursing is preferred.
- Strong communication skills essential for patient education and team collaboration.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to lactation, pediatrics, and maternal health.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases effectively through case management systems.
Pay: $26.13-$77.37 per hour
