Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Panel Shop Technician to join our team. This role involves assembling, wiring, and testing electrical control panels according to schematics and specifications. The ideal candidate has strong technical abilities, a commitment to quality, and enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels and enclosures
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and layouts
- Mount components such as PLCs, relays, terminals, and circuit breakers
- Perform point-to-point wiring and labeling
- Conduct quality checks and testing to ensure functionality and compliance
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Follow safety standards and company procedures
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams as needed
Qualifications
- Experience in panel building or electrical assembly (preferred)
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and components
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
- Experience with industrial control panels or automation systems
- Knowledge of PLC wiring and layout
- Understanding of CSA/UL standards (or equivalent)
- Electrical certification or relevant training (an asset)
