About the Opportunity
Currently, Clearford has an exciting opportunity for an experienced District Supervisor to lead our team in the greater Ottawa region on a full-time basis.
As our new District Supervisor, you will supervise all day-to-day activities for the Operation Group District sites in your region while also providing support to the Director, Operations on all related initiatives as well as supporting the VP, Operations Business Development on sales and growth opportunities. This role will see you planning, leading, and coordinating the delivery of operations and maintenance services for water and wastewater industry clients in a defined geographic region in order to support and ensure operational effectiveness, efficiencies, safety, and optimum asset management.
While no two days in this exciting leadership role will ever be the same, your more typical responsibilities will include:
Providing leadership, expert operational input, and overseeing the supervision and administration of safe water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection.
Ensuring operating compliance with existing regulations, legislation, and client management systems.
Attending MECP site inspections and liaising with Ministry personnel.
Ensuring deficiencies identified in inspections completed by MECP are corrected.
Visiting all district sites, as required, in order to monitor operations and assess needs.
Providing expert operational input to the engineering, pre-design, design, planning and implementation for plant capital repairs and expansion.
Assisting the VP, Operations Business Development with the preparation and renewal of existing contracts for clients and ensuring contract obligations will be delivered efficiently and effectively.
Providing strategic and technical expertise, advice, and recommendations to management for preventative maintenance strategies and technical solutions in order to support client operations and Clearford business development objectives.
Reviewing and optimizing the use of consumables such as chemicals and spare parts.
Conducting risk management audits on behalf of the company as it relates to each project.
Monitoring key operating information and team performance information by performing client feedback discussions on a regular basis, ensuring all service areas have the resources and equipment to complete the required projects and tasks, and reviewing quality management and service levels.
Conducting post-project feedback and sharing this feedback with the project team.
Promoting a safe work environment by performing periodic Health & Safety inspections of facilities and by enforcing the company's Health & Safety policy.
Supervising the water and wastewater District operations and interacting with the Compliance Coordinators.
Supervising and safeguarding the assets of the company and ensuring that all work carried out is in compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Participating in the development of long-range goals and objectives for the Hub in conjunction with the VP, Operations Business Development.
Promoting teamwork and effective communication between all service groups within the company.
Mentoring and supporting the professional development of Operators as well as carrying out monthly staff meetings.
Reviewing and approving timesheets and expense reports on a weekly basis.
Responsible for reviewing and evaluating employee performance as well as following the company discipline policy and recommending salary and staffing changes to the Director, Operations as required.
Ensuring all staff comply with corporate policies as well as Health & Safety initiatives.
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a minimum of 5 years of operations experience in water and wastewater operations along with a Wastewater Class 2 License. Candidates with a Wastewater Class 1 license who have the ability to move up within 12 months may also be considered. You will also need a valid driver's license along with a clean driver's abstract and the ability to maintain a clean driving record.
You will also join us with:
Familiarity in water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection.
Familiarity with all regulations included in the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Ontario Water Resources Act, the Environmental Protection Act, the Nutrient Management Act, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Knowledge of various water and wastewater plant technologies, instrumentation and control, and SCADA.
Strong computer skills in a Windows environment including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
