Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Administrative Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential administrative support within a busy medical or dental office, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role requires excellent communication skills, familiarity with electronic medical records, and experience with office management systems. The Medical Administrative Assistant will serve as the first point of contact for patients and staff, facilitating appointments, managing records, and supporting clinical staff as needed.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors professionally at the front desk, providing excellent customer service
- Schedule and confirm appointments using electronic scheduling systems
- Manage phone systems to handle patient inquiries, appointment rescheduling, and general questions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Verify patient insurance information and process billing or payments accordingly
- Assist with data entry, filing, and other administrative tasks to support clinical staff
- Prepare patient charts and documentation for upcoming appointments or procedures
- Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies to ensure seamless service delivery
- Create reports as needed for office management.
- Other physically active duties related to assisting therapists and cleaning and maintaining clinic space and equipment are required.
- Clinical aide functions are part of the scope of this position.
Requirements and Qualifications include:
Grade 12 education. Customer service experience (retail, hospitality, restaurant) an asset.
Post-secondary education in office administration, business or computer applications a strong asset.
Fluency in English. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
1 year experience as a Medical Administrative Assistant is required.
Advanced skills in database applications and Microsoft Office, and ability to learn computer software quickly. Advanced typing skills.
Availability to work extra shifts within the clinic schedule to provide vacation/illness/leave coverage is required.
Valid Yukon Driver's license and a car to use occasionally for work is required.
Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 40lbs.
Reliable and punctual, excellent client service skills, able to multi-task in a busy environment.
Minimum 35 hours per week, combination of early mornings or afternoon/evening hours within the clinic schedule. The clinic is open between 7 am - 7:30 pm, Monday to Thursday, and 7 am-5:30 pm on Fridays, with some work on occasional Saturdays.
Must be available for additional overtime coverage of vacation, sick or other leave for staff when required.
Must be available to work shifts between 7 am and 730 pm Monday to Thursday and Fridays 7 am -530 pm

Pay: $27.54-$30.00 per hour
