The Continuous Improvement Branch of Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning is responsible for strategic policy development, action planning, and sector engagement to support continuous improvement across the Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system. The branch leads the Provincial Assessment Program, providing key data that supports the department’s accountability and assurance framework, including school division planning and reporting. It also supports the provincial data and performance measurement strategy and public reporting on student success and well-being. The information gathered through the Provincial Assessment Program helps monitor system performance and informs continuous improvement efforts across Manitoba’s education system.
Duties:
The Assessment Consultant leads the development and production of one of the Grade 12 provincial mathematics tests, providing subject-matter expertise and overseeing the test development committees. The Assessment Consultant manages the project from planning through implementation, including coordinating contractors, establishing project timelines, overseeing technical quality standards, and supporting assessment administration. They also respond to education partner inquiries and provide support and guidance to educators, colleagues and others in the field on matters related to the provincial mathematics assessments.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and assessing Manitoba's Grade 12 Pre-Calculus Mathematics curriculum
- Demonstrated experience leading teachers and development committees to oversee the design, development, administration, and marking of provincial mathematics assessments
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships, demonstrate tact and diplomacy, and work effectively with others
- Excellent organizational skills demonstrating the ability to work well under pressure, multitask, adapt and meet multiple time-sensitive deadlines
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to use innovation and creativity to resolve complex issues
- Strong political acumen and the ability to manage confidential, controversial and politically sensitive situations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Desired:
- Knowledge of Manitoba's major provincial assessment initiatives
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess or be eligible for a Manitoba Teacher's Certificate.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends are required.
