Reporting to the General Manager, the Estimating Team Lead is responsible for determining projects costs including but not limited to labour, supplied, materials, and preparing reports to support the determined data, and leading the team.
Responsibilities
· Lead and manage the estimating function, including workload planning, prioritization, mentorship, and development of estimating team members.
· Prepare and update accurate construction estimates, budgets, take-offs, tender packages, and purchase orders by reviewing drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, shop drawings, and contract documents.
· Oversee projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring budgets, specifications, schedules, and cost information remain accurate and aligned with production timelines.
· Lead project tendering activities, including bid solicitation, evaluation, negotiation, contractor selection, and scope-of-work reviews in collaboration with Construction.
· Review and manage project change orders, issue revised purchase orders as required, and communicate cost impacts and project updates to all relevant stakeholders.
· Monitor labour, material, subcontractor, and supplier pricing on an ongoing basis, negotiating costs where appropriate and ensuring project budgets remain competitive and accurate.
· Support project feasibility and go/no-go decisions by providing cost analysis, risk assessments, and recommendations regarding project competitiveness and profitability.
· Develop, maintain, and continuously improve estimating processes, standards, model assemblies, optional assemblies, specifications, and cost databases to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
· Ensure all estimating activities comply with applicable building codes, regulatory requirements, company standards, and industry best practices while maintaining awareness of emerging construction methods and materials.
· Collaborate closely with internal teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and support successful project delivery.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, suppliers, consultants, and internal stakeholders while providing a high level of professional service.
· Attend meetings as required and relay information as needed to stakeholders.
· Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
· 5-7 years of experience as an Estimator or in a similar role
· 1-2 years of leadership experience
· Construction Engineer Technology Diploma, preferred
· Experience with Microsoft Suite, Homefront or BuildPro
· Experience in residential construction
· Able to perform moderate to complex account reconciliations
· Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
· Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
· Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
· Strong mathematical skills with an aptitude for problem solving
Pay: $85,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
