Job Description

The Associate Analyst, Product Management is responsible for taking the business data and information available from multiple sources and translating that data into meaningful, relevant intelligence that can be used by Product Management leadership. The Associate Analyst, Product Management will have expert level knowledge and be an advanced user of Microsoft Power BI or similar, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, and is responsible for creating workflows, documentation, graphs, charts, and presentation graphics for all assigned projects that will include components of client, regulatory, operational and product impact. The Associate Analyst, Product Management is also responsible as required, to perform workflow analysis, create process and functional documents and participate in other aspects of projects as required.

Key Job Functions/Responsibilities

Plan, analyze, design, develop and implement Power BI dashboards and reports
Advise and assist team members in support of their self-service Power BI development
Partner and collaborate with the Business and teams to further advance capabilities and adoption of Microsoft Power BI
Contribute as a member of the Business Insights team and be responsible for the following activities:
Develop Power BI reports and dashboard solutions
Develop Power BI data models that aggregate data from multiple data sources to meet requirements
Analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system technical specifications
Provide feedback and inputs on gaps in requirements and technical feasibility of requirements (f) Create mock-up reports for proof of concept reviews
Writing functional/ non-functional and integration test cases and test scripts from Power BI reporting business requirements and technical design documents
Performing Power BI report test execution and documenting test results
Collaborate with our data teams to integrate data for Power BI applications
Share best practices to ensure we leverage the best design available
Develop a working relationship with the business that will enable you to identify data and reporting needs.
Monitor use of ad-hoc reports / re-work outside of existing reporting systems and to propose permanent and automated solutions.
Provide training, mentoring, support and advice to team on their self-service Power BI development and on how to query or analyze data and create robust visualizations
Participate in team meetings to provide a status report of work in progress, accomplished and problems / issues encountered

Qualifications

Education:
Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Computer Sciences or Finance
Formal Training in Microsoft suite of Products, Power BI or similar database query and data visualization tools.
Training in Research Analyst program
Securities course and background in financial information systems are definite assets.

Experience:
Minimum two years financial/brokerage industry experience

Computer Skills:
Four plus years’ experience developing and optimizing dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power Bi or similar tools with a focus on usability, automation and performance
Experience with the developing reporting business requirements and translating those requirements into functional and technical specifications
Experience creating compelling, meaningful visualizations, hierarchies, drill-down in Power BI
Experience using data analysis expressions and functions, Enhancing Power BI visuals, data extraction and power query for data transformation
Experience with Power BI data modelling: defining a data model with calculated columns, measures and calculated tables
Expertise and advanced user in Microsoft Power BI, or similar, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint Sites, Tableau
Ability to work with large data
Ability to tap into systems, download data, and create trends, analysis, graphs, etc.
