The RCA will assist the resident care worker to perform personal care while promoting the health, comfort, and safety of residents concerning physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
Qualifications:
- Grade Ten (10) education is required for this position. Previous experience working with elderly would be an asset.
- This position requires a motivated individual who works well with minimal supervision. Neat and Clean appearance.
- The RCA will establish and maintain good interpersonal relationship with co-workers, residents, visitors and other staff.
- Responsibilities:
- Answer call bells
- Assist with feeding of residents
- Assist in Kitchen, when required
- Serve meals to residents
- Clean up dining area after each meal ie: sweep floors, wipe tables
- Ensure residents face and hands are clean
- Serve drinks and snacks to residents twice a day
- Socialize with residents, Take residents for short walks, read with/to resident
- If Activity Department is doing activities with residents, assist if available
- Accompany residents, along with a drive, to appointments when required
- Function as part of multidisciplinary team
- Check fridges daily and restock with juices, fresh water and snacks, as needed. Wipe down fridge when needed. Ensure temperature of fridge is maintained at 4 degrees
- Participate in fire drills
- Respect confidentiality on matters pertaining to the Lodge, residents and staff
- Take pride in work and be self-motivated.
- Attend in-service training.
- Assist with orientation of new staff
- Other duties as required.
